Double Strand Bears & Bluebird Fetish Necklace

By Pansy Natachu

This offering is sold.

Twenty-five little Bear helpers on a double strand reversible fetish necklace are meticulously carved from jet and inlaid with sweet eyes and continuous heartlines or breath paths from turquoise by Zuni artist Pansy Natachu. Her father was the late Leonard Halate who started producing animal carvings in the 1940's. Pansy and her siblings Reva Halate, Marvelita Phillips, Vella Halate and Herbert Halate continue the tradition.

The small bears' measure about 3/8" long and 3/4" wide, while the center bear inlaid with a Zuni Sunface symbol is about 1 1/4" long, 1/4" wide and 1/2" tall. The Sunface which represents the elements in balance is from mother-of-pearl, turquoise, jet and coral. A single bluebird from turquoise with jet eyes also joins in the gathering, itself measuring approximately 1 1/8" long, 1/8" wide and 1/4" tall. This collectible necklace that's strung with lovely turquoise beads has a total length of about 19 1/4" and is roughly 3 5/8" deep in the center.
