Dancing Tablita Maiden

By Claudia Peina

Animal: Tablita Maiden, Material: Antler
This offering is sold.

Zuni carver Claudia Peina's Tablita Maiden dances for a successful harvest. Sculpted from one antler specimen, a traditional headdress resembles four individual olla pottery jars with turquoise inlays to represent life-giving water. Eyes are etched and a mouth is from a coral inlay. Long hair and bangs are intricately incised, while a warm shawl is etched and filled with jet paste accented with colorful pen shell, turquoise and red coral pieces. About 3" tall, 1 1/8" wide and 1" deep.
