Zuni Pueblo carver Brian Yatsattie has an incredible eye for materials. A peaceful Bear has been smoothly sculpted from a bluebird azurite with fabulous color. Jet inlaid eyes give this animal a gentle personality. Bluebird azurite is from the Bluebird Mine near the town of Miami in Gila County, Arizona. Azurite is a copper carbonate hydroxide mineral best known for its characteristic deep blue to violet-blue color. The blue color known as azure is like the deep blue evening skies often seen above desert and winter landscapes. About 3 1/4" long, 3/4" wide and 1 1/2" tall.
