A mountain bunny says goodnight as a reddish-orange hue kisses its face and fades away. The rosy light on the mountain slopes at twilight is one many Indigenous Peoples regard as sacred, one with spiritual significance and a connection to the ancestors. When warm tones of pinks and reds illuminated by sunlight just below the horizon after sunset make the mountains appear to glow in entrancing colors, this is often called alpenglow. Carved from a gorgeous onyx, David Chavez, Jr.'s etched-whiskered Rabbit is approximately 1 3/4" long, 3/8" wide and 7/8" tall. Colorful eyes are from turquoise inlays.
