Zuni Pueblo Man

Freddie Leekya continues his grandfather Leekya Deyuse's tradition of carving human figurines with this lively little man. He wears a traditional headband tied at the side. His gleaming eyes are of inlaid pen shell and he wears a necklace of melon shell and turquoise beads. Across his body hangs a pouch in which corn meal is carried which along with the sash at his waist is decorated with turquoise and coral accents. Perhaps the best and most endearing detail of this carving is the western style jeans he wears with what would be the embroidered stitching incised on his back pockets juxtaposed to his moccasins with coral and turquoise buttons. He is a heartwarming presence, measuring about 3 7/8" tall, 1 1/2" wide and 1 1/4" deep.
