This katsina is known in Hopi as 'Hakto' and known in Zuni as 'Yamu:hakdo. During Sha'la'k'o, an annual religious ceremony held at Zuni Pueblo, 'Yamu:hakdo' or 'The Wood Carrier' makes an appearance as a guardian figure for the Sha'la'k'o. All hand-carved of traditional cottonwood root and hand-painted with incredible colors by Spencer Nutima. It is about 1 1/2" wide and 4 3/4" tall.
