Animal: Bear, Material: Turquoise
This offering is sold.
In the wild, Bears go into their den or cave to hibernate through the winter cold. During this deep sleep state they restore themselves. Winter is a time to retreat and reset as plants go dormant and days are short. Zuni bear carvings with a rounded back can be compared to their den or cave entrance thus they are called Medicine-bears. Stewart Quandelacy and Priscilla Lasiloo Quandelacy's wonderful turquoise medicine bear has a bright blue inlaid alternating turquoise heartline and eyes. Measurements are about 2 1/4" long, 1/2" wide and 1 7/8" tall.
