White Raven

By Calvert Bowannie

Animal: Raven, Material: Mother-Of-Pearl
This offering is sold.
White ravens are rare in nature and are not considered albino. Albinism is the absence of a pigment called melanin which results in the animal being white with red eyes and pink legs. White ravens have leucism which is a partial loss of this pigment and their eyes are usually blue. Albino animals aren't really white but more of a cream color. Any animal can have leucism. A special Raven (or crow) with turquoise inlaid eyes has elegant turquoise inlays adorning its sweeping and shimmering mother-of-pearl feathers. Approximately 3" long, 1/2" wide and 1" tall, carved by Calvert Bowannie.
