George Cheechee Haloo (d) was an important innovator who started carving in the 1930's and was known for his fetish necklaces. Today his descendant Rosita Kaamasee carries on in the traditional art through her collectible fetish necklaces. She honors her family's legacy with a triple strand fetish necklace consisting of carved birds and Bears, strung with fine heishe shell beads. These many lovely birds varying in size from about 3/4" to 1" long, and bears are carved from colorful and natural materials such as pink and red corals, Picasso marble, gold lip shell, lapis, amber, pink mussel shell, both blue and green turquoises, serpentine, fossilized ivory, mother-of-pearl and spiny oyster shell.
