Tourmaline is a semi-precious gem stone found in a variety of colors. It's said to have immunity boosting properties and is so lovely that many have been inspired by it. Daniel Chattin happen to chose a spectacularly colorful tourmaline specimen to carve an exhilarating Corn Maiden, with a lovely etched area of individual Corn kernels. Her happy eyes are of inlaid jet and a turquoise cabochon decorates her. Crushed turquoise, representing life-giving water, and a gorgeous fluorite base complete this amazing work. About 2 3/4" tall, 1 1/2" wide and 2" deep.
Daniel Chattin's son is carver Frankie Poblano Chattin. Frankie's mother is artist Jovanna Poblano.
