A Tablita Harvest Corn-Maiden is carved from an orthoceras fossil stone that reminds us of the night's sky and full moon. Orthoceras mollusks lived in ancient Ordovician waters millions of years ago. Their aragonite shells fossilized into a white-like calcite which now is an attractive contrast to the dark limestone they hardened in. We're admiring Kateri Quandelacy Sanchez's creative use of the main fossil to beautify an etched corn body. Facial features are from overlaid mother-of-pearl filled with jet paste. A lone turquoise cabochon adorns. Airy Dragonflies are incised into the headdress that is worn during ceremonial dances. About 4 1/4" tall, 1 1/2" wide and 1/2" deep.
