Colin Weeka is part of the greater Laate family of recognized Zuni artists, which include carving greats Maxx Laate, Derrick Kaamasee and Destry Siutza, among many others. Colin's fawn (Deer) patiently rests, awaiting its mother's return. Its primary defense mechanism is to stay totally still and quiet. The natural camouflage of their fur coats helps them blend into their environment. Jet inlaid eyes, an overlaid nose and small hooves make this gentle creature all the more wonderful. About 1 1/8" long, 5/8" wide and 5/8" tall, carved from fish rock serpentine.
