Lynn Quam descends from the greater Johnny Quam (d) and Westika family of Zuni Pueblo artists. His siblings include carvers Rhoda Quam (d), Pernell Gasper (d) and jeweler Nancy Westika. Their mother was noted jeweler Annie Gasper Quam (d) who also learned to make fetishes from her father Johnny Quam (d). Lynn's extraordinary Turtle from serpentine looks toward the sky through turquoise inlaid eyes, in hopes of rainfall. A Zuni Sunface symbol which represents the elements in balance, is inlaid to the carapace from lapis lazuli, turquoise, jet and rich pipestone. About 3" long, 2 1/4" wide and 1 3/4" tall.
