Gilbert Bowannie's terrific Turkey is carved from Picasso marble. This turquoise-eyed bird has great plumage detail and an inlaid Zuni Sunface symbol. Wing tips are overlaid with shimmering abalone. The Sunface is composed from lapis, pipestone, jet and mother-of-pearl. The Sunface represents the elements in balance. About 1 3/4" long, 1 3/8" wide and 1 1/2" tall. Turkeys are important birds that have been cultivated by Puebloans for over a thousand years. Their feathers are used in ceremonies to this day.
