Pretty pink mussel shell is opalescent and shimmering in Andrew Quam's turquoise-eyed Snake. He comes from the greater Johnny Quam (d), Andrew Emerson Quam (d) and Bossie Quam (d) family of notable Zuni Pueblo artists. Andrew's mother was Rosalia Quam (d) who learned the art from her step-father George Cheechee Haloo (d). She was well-known for stringing bird fetishes and also for her wonderful horse, frog and owl carvings. Rosalia and her husband Andrew Emerson Quam taught Andrew to carve. About 4 1/4" long, 3/4" wide and 3/8" tall.
