Colder months will soon visit the deserts where roadrunners live. They'll consume lots of small reptiles, invertebrates and rodents in preparation for the change of season. Because they don't fly very well, non-migratory roadrunners seem to disappear during the winter but are likely sheltering in rock formations and shrubs.
We're excited to share Travis Lasiloo's highly-detailed masterpiece, a glorious roadrunner a top an arrow point. Sculpted from one portion of rich Picasso marble, intricate plumage shows tiny individually carved feathers. Sandy brown, earth yellow and muted orange hues within the Picasso marble resemble the arid regions where roadrunners live. Equipped with long legs, strong claws, a beautiful crest and jet in turquoise eyes, this lovely beaked bird is about 4" long, 1 1/8" wide and 2 1/4" tall.
