Ron Laahty's lapis corn maiden is an intricate weave of circular and square red coral, turquoise, purple spiny oyster shell, mother of pearl, and sugilite cabochons. Her heartfelt eyes and mouth are overlaid turquoise and her hair holds delicately incised feathers. A Sunface of jet, turquoise, mother of pearl, and pipestone hides discreetly in her robe folds as does an incised flower with purple spiny oyster shell and malachite. Two tiny creatures accompany this maiden: a gentle Butterfly with red coral body and a turquoise eye, and a graceful Dragonfly with turquoise accented wings. Near the base is a carved heartline with an overlaid turquoise arrow tip. She stands about 3" tall, 2 1/2" wide, and 1 1/2" deep.
