Rainbow Man, brother of Knifewing, is a guardian symbol of Zuni and connected to spirit world. He is associated with rain, always a blessing in desert country. Keli'i Eli offers this carving of Rainbow Man arching over Dowa Yalanne, or Corn Mountain. Dowa Yalanne rises high above the village of Zuni and holds a sacred place in Zuni culture. Keli'i carved this image of sacred protection from an icy specimen of Chinese Fluorite. Rainbow Man's mouth is an inlaid turquoise cabochon. About 8" long, 4 3/4" tall, and 1" thick.
