Evalena Boone's coral-eyed Eagle (or Hawk) has been carved from fascinating labradorite. The colors in labradorite are not actually present in stone rather they are the result of light play within the stone. Labradorite is a feldspar with a crystalline structure that forms very thin compacted layers. When light hits the surface of the stone, it travels down through the layers which reflect, refract and diffuse the white light, absorbing some colors and reflecting others which we see as the flash on the surface of the stone. Blue and green hues radiate within this approximately 1 3/8" tall, 1/2" wide and 2 1/4" tall sweet raptor with an incised "X" on its back to represent wings.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this eagle fetish will go to the Zuni Eagle Sanctuary. Please see our resources page for more information on the sanctuary.
