Soaking in the warm Zuni sunshine, Michelle Cheama's quick and active Lizard
is about 5 3/4" long, 1 3/8" wide and 1 1/4" tall. This sunbathing reptile has turquoise inlaid eyes and nice cross-hatching details on its head. This specimen of serpentine was a good choice of material, as Michelle could see it naturally mimics a reptile's skin. She also incised it all over to add texture. A lizard's use of camouflage is another of many survival tactics.
