Evalena Boone descends from the important Teddy Weahkee (d) family of Zuni Pueblo artists. Her mother is Lena Boone, and her grandmother was Edna Leki (d). Evalena's brother is carver Leland Boone. Evalena's smoothly sculpted Bear
is presented in lively wonderstone and has eyes from turquoise inlays. A pen shell point, perhaps red spiny oyster shell and turquoise beads are carefully laced into the offering bundle that gives thanks for all the amazing things bears teach us by how they live in nature. Bear (Anshe
) was the principal animal for the Pueblo People and they are the most prevalent subject of Zuni fetishes. About 3 1/4" long, 3/4" wide and 1 1/4" tall.
