Frog (Dakkya) is a sign of water. Water is life. In Zuni Pueblo, frogs often appear on prayer bowls since many of the Zuni prayers and dances ask for water in the form of rain or snow. These fantastic frogs by Herbert Him Sr. are grouped together sitting atop a pueblo scene. With arms extended, the group supports a prayer bowl mid-air. Carved from a single block of Picasso marble each frog has inlaid turquoise eyes. The piece measures about 3 1/4" long by 3 1/4" wide and stands about 3" tall. The carving is signed on the bottom and has a spiral centered directly beneath the prayer bowl.
