A miniature pipestone jar is filled with crushed turquoise that an Olla Grandmother permanently balances on her head. Traditionally ollas or pottery jars would be used to transport important things like corn meal or water. Carved from picture jasper with gorgeous inclusions, the measurements in their entirety are approximately 3 1/8" tall, 1" wide and 5/8" deep, by Sandra Quandelacy. Facial features are etched and filled with jet paste.
