According to Zuni Pueblo tradition, long ago
Corn-maidens saved the people from famine and drought by nourishing them with sacred
corn kernels from their bodies. Kevin Chapman's carved turquoise corn maiden pendant delights with details such as flowing stalks, individually etched corn kernels and whorled hair. A bright blue turquoise stone is inlaid and etched eyes are from jet. Approximately 2 3/4" long including the lovely sterling silver bale fixture, 7/8" wide and 1/2" deep. The silver snake chain is not included but is available and sold separately
here.
