Bighorn sheep (ram or mountain sheep) are important animals to many native cultures including the Apsaalooka (Crow) people and the Shoshone. About two hundred years ago, bighorn sheep were widespread throughout the United States, Mexico and Canada. Their populations have declined and conservation efforts continue.
Christopher Sandoval's tribute to this spectacular species is shown in carved jasper with turquoise inlaid eyes. His wonderful bighorn sheep or ram comes in at about 2 1/4" long, 3/4" wide and 1 1/2" tall.
