Horizontal turquoise heartlines were elegantly inlaid on both sides of Bernard Laiwakete's autumn-hued hickoryite bushytail (Wolf, Coyote, Fox) jazzed with brick red, fiery orange and golden yellow hues in a natural diagonal formation. The heartlines start at the mouth running to the heart region, representing the breath path of this turquoise-eyed canine's wonderful spirit or essence. About 4 1/4" long, 3/4" wide and 1 1/8" tall.
Bernard comes from a great line of Zuni Pueblo carvers: the Mahooty, Lasiloo and Laiwakete families. His son is carver Kenric Laiwakete and several of his brothers carve as well.
