is a powerful and protective animal to the Zunis, believed to help medicine men dig roots needed to heal. Herbert Him Sr.'s badger is carved low to the ground, looking after its pueblo home, all carved from one piece of handsome Picasso marble. Turquoise inlaid eyes and a wonderfully detailed face convey a tenacious spirit. Clawed digger paws, a furry coat and a great tail are given. Many tiny windows and doorways are seen in the ancient building, along with meaningful incised symbols like a spiral element, lightning bolt and a Zuni Sunface. About 5" long, 2" wide and 1 3/8" tall.
