Rick Quam's elegant Medicine-bear pair is carved of black and white marble, about 1 3/4" long, 5/8"wide and 1 1/2" tall, with vibrant eyes inlaid of turquoise. They are bound together in support by a colorful offering bundle of shell heishe, turquoise, and coral beads. Bear (Anshe) is one of the principal animals for the Pueblo People and are the most prevalent subject of Zuni fetish carvings. Bear fetishes are used for healing, protection, strength, journeying, mothering, hunting and gathering.
