Bear is hardy and strong carved from Zuni travertine. A pen shell nose and coral tongue are fine features of this approximately 2 1/2" long, 1" wide and 1 3/4" tall fetish. Bears are extraordinarily intelligent, dominant predators with sharp memories and superior navigation skills. They hibernate through torpor to restore themselves. Bears are the most prevalent subject of Zuni fetish carvings. By honoring a bear’s traits such as strength, journeying, protection, mothering, hunting and gathering, we can awaken similar attributes within ourselves.
