Zuni Pueblo tradition says that during the old-days
Corn-Maidens saved the People from famine and drought by nourishing them with sacred
corn kernels from their bodies. Remembering the beauty of this teaching comes in the form of a carved gold lip shell Corn Maiden fetish pendant by Ricky Laahty. The Corn Maiden's eyes are from inlaid jet. Ricky's wife Nona did all the lovely silver work surrounding the iridescent carving. Measurements including the silver bale are about 1 3/8" long, 5/8" wide and 3/8" deep. The nice silver snake chain is not included but is available and sold separately
