A jolly Horse
is carved from a gorgeously layered natural onyx by Mike Mahooty. He comes from the extended Mahooty, Lasiloo and Laiwakete family of Zuni artists. Mike's grandfather Chester Mahooty (d) produced some carvings but his father Eugene Mahooty (d) carved regularly in the 1970's, teaching the art to other family members. Turquoise eyes are set into this approximate 2 1/2" long, 5/8" wide and 2" tall pony fetish.
