Chad Quandelacy's 8 tiny corn maidens play together with ladybugs among a field of flowers. The group, which is carved out of a sizable piece of green turquoise sits on a pedestal of green cuprite and measures about 3 1/8" tall, 2" long by almost 1 1/8" deep. The ladybugs are made of bright apple coral and jet. The flower elements are both incised into the turquoise as well as attached pieces of carved coral and mother of pearl shell. The maidens and the flowers are accented with inlaid pieces of blue turquoise and red coral. The incised face details of the maidens are darkened with jet paste.
