An older carving by Salvador and I have never seen anything else like it from him. I love roadrunners as well as Sal’s carvings and so this piece was taken home immediately. You can see where Sal rubbed some red ochre on the head to make it stand out. The details on his neck and between his wings are nicely done. This is a piece of stone Sal found long ago in Cochiti Pueblo, his home, and it reminded him of a roadrunner immediately. Good find! Great carving. Difficult to give up, but it’s for a good cause. This piece measures about 3 1/2" long by 1 1/8" wide.
