The late jeweler Effie Calavaza was well-known for original designs incorporating snakes winding among stones of turquoise and coral. Today Effie's family continues the tradition carrying her memory forward into future generations. Snake is a powerful symbol of rebirth and renewal in many cultures. Beginning in 2002, Effie's granddaughter Melissa Oliver began assisting her with stone work and buffing. Melissa became a jeweler and earned the permission to continue Effie's snake motif. Melissa's impressive ring hosts a single turquoise stone enveloped by a silver snake with turquoise eyes. A closer look reveals the reptile's texturized body coiled around the stone's setting. In honoring her grandmother's unique snake jewelry creations, Melissa continues to use Effie's hallmark signature stamp, as seen on the underside of this fabulous ring. The snake and stone station are about 1" long and 7/8" wide, while this is a ring size 7 that is slightly adjustable.
