Brian Yunie is from the greater Quandelacy family of important Zuni Pueblo artists. His brother is carver Jeffrey Yunie. Their mother was noted artist Albenita Yunie (d), and their grandmother was Ellen Quandelacy (d). Ellen learned the art of fetish carving from her father Johnny Quam (d), passing down all traditional carving experience to her children. Brian Yunie's excellent little Horse
has been hewn from spiny oyster shell and inlaid with endearing turquoise eyes. Including base, measurements of this collectible equine fetish are approximately 1 1/2" long, 7/8" wide and 1" tall.
