Animal: Narwhal, Material: Dolomite
This offering is sold.
Enchanting narwhals are small Arctic whales made famous by their long twisted tusks protruding from their heads. Mostly males develop a tusk which is actually considered a tooth. The Indigenous Inuit name for the narwhal, Oialugaq qernartaq means the one that points to the sky. Melvin Sandoval's smoothly sculpted dolomite narwhale with a drilled blowhole is about 7" long, which includes the iridescent abalone tusk, 2 1/2" wide and 1" tall. The lovely tusk isn't removable. This deep-diving water creature is spectacular.
