Danette Laate often inlays her carvings with a Zuni Sunface element. This symbol represents a balance in life: turquoise (blue) stands for Father Sky, coral (red) stands for Mother Earth. The tiny inlaid Sunface is an offering or blessing from Danette to the playful dolphin of rich green ricolite. This water friend measures about 2 3/8" long, 3/4" wide by 1 1/4" tall, with eyes and dotted accents of turquoise.
