Zuni Pueblo tradition teaches that during the old-days Corn-maidens saved the Zunis from famine and drought by nourishing them with sacred corn kernels from their bodies. Alan Lewis' hand-carved and hand-painted, cottonwood root and acrylic paints, honoring corn maiden stands a tall 9", 2 1/2" wide and 2" deep.
