Kateri Quandelacy Sanchez honors the feminine and the beauty of nature is this corn maiden carving by leaving most of the black murex shell intact. The maiden's face is overlaid gold lip mother of pearl shell. She wears a mother of pearl shell feather in her hair. The murex shell has become her body and shawl. It is adorned with many incised Dragonfly and star designs as well as inlaid jet. Her eyes and mouth are incised and darkened with jet paste. About 3 3/4" tall and 3 1/2" wide.
