Zuni Pueblo tradition says that during the old-days
Corn-maidens saved the people from famine and drought by nourishing them with the sacred
corn kernels from their bodies. Remembering the beauty of this teaching comes in the form of a carved corn maiden fetish pendant by Bryston Bowannie. Hewn from rich picture jasper measurements are about 2 3/8" long including silver bale, 3/4" wide and 1/2" deep. Eyes are from inlaid turquoise and a drill mark represents a voice of wisdom. The lovely silver snake chain is not included but is available and sold separately
here.
