Andres Quandelacy's portable Bear (or Medicine-bear) is carved from a piece of rippling green malachite. The turquoise inlaid eyes and heartline stand out bold and dramatic against the swirling greens, and the side that doesn't have a heartline features a beautiful light spot on the shoulder of this bear. The heartline is a visual representation of the animal’s breath, and has its origins in the creation story of both the first fetishes and the first A:Shiwi (Zuni) people. Reminiscent of mossy logs, this carving is about 2 3/8" long, 5/8" wide, 1 3/8" tall and Andres has perfectly captured the serene strength of the bear.
