Considered the largest member of the Deer
family, moose are grand creatures and great swimmers. The name for a moose originates from the indigenous Algonquin word "moosu
" meaning "he strips off" probably due to their habit of stripping tree bark off with their teeth. This moose was created by Maxx Laate, and is carved with a wonderful crown of antlers adorning its head and tiny jet eyes. Moose lose their antlers in the early months of the year before regrowing them a few months later and these sheds are the renewable material that artists, like Maxx, use in their carvings, like this one. About 3 1/4" tall, 1" wide and 1 1/4" deep.
