By Kateri Quandelacy Sanchez, Zuni-Acoma

Animal: Owl, Material: Campitos Turquoise
This offering is sold.
Campitos turquoise is gathered in the Sonoran mountains in Mexico. Indigenous groups have collected this gorgeous variety of turquoise since the beginning. The majority of Campitos turquoise forms in clay deposits, which makes it different from other turquoises that are usually mined from rock veins. Kateri Quandelacy Sanchez's spirited little Owlet has been carved from a lovely specimen of Campitos turquoise and inlaid with charming eyes from jet in mother-of-pearl. A ruffled small raptor measuring approximately 1 3/4" tall, 1 1/4" wide and 5/8" deep.
