Around the age of eleven or twelve, Herbert Halate learned the art of fetish carving by watching his late father Leonard Halate who started producing fetishes in the 1940's. Herbert's siblings are artists Reva Halate, Marvelita Phillips and Pansy Natachu. Herbert's wonderful Bear pair is carved from jet and fish rock serpentine. They each have turquoise eyes, while toting a simple sleek turquoise offering bundle. All together, measurements are about 3 1/4" long, 1 1/4" wide and 1 1/4" tall.
