Zuni Travertine Piggy

By Delvin Leekya

Animal: Pig, Material: Zuni Travertine
This offering is sold.

Delvin Leekya's grandfather was renowned Zuni carver Leekya Deyuse (d). Leekya has been the family's surname for quite a while because Leekya had asked his children to use his first name as their last name, when they started school. Apparently there were a lot of people named Deyuse back then. Delvin and his brothers Freddie and Hayes, continue in their grandfather's carving legacy.

Hewn from indigenous Zuni travertine, Delvin's too-cute-for-words pig measures about 3 1/2" long, 1" wide and 1 3/4" tall. Its hooves are from jet and it has eyes from inlaid turquoise. Pigs are some of the smartest barnyard animals around.
