A determined woodpecker goes at it with a powerful chisel-like beak. A strong head with an internal hyoid bone works as a shock absorber allowing these amazing birds to pound away to find an insect meal, such as a plump grub or to excavate a nest. Justin Red Elk's approximate 2 1/8" tall, 1 5/8" wide and 3/4" deep woodpecker and wooden stump is a true treasure. The jet-eyed bird is composed of carved jet, antler and apple coral.
