Danny Lonjose's wonderful mosaic
Snake resembles the highly venomous Western Coral Snake who lives in the southwestern part of New Mexico. This beautiful reptile is active at night and spends time hidden under rocks. It has a pencil-thin body and is very timid with short fangs. Bites to humans are very rare unless handled or stepped on. The desert ecosystem benefits from the good work of the Coral Snake who contributes to the food web serving as both predator and prey helping balancing other animal populations. Danny's turquoise-eyed reptile is composed from carved Picasso marble, jet and red spiny oyster shell or perhaps coral overlaid on a bed of pen shell. Clean cross-hatching adorns the colorful snake that's approximately 4 1/4" long, 1 1/4" wide and 7/8" tall.
