Brandon Phillips' mother is Zuni Pueblo artist Marvelita Phillips renowned for her animal fetish necklaces. Brandon's grandfather was noted carver and jeweler Leonard Halate (d) who started carving in the 1940's. Brandon's uncle is beloved carver Herbert Halate. A gorgeously overlaid jet, pipestone and turquoise etched tail slaps the water in excitement, with perhaps turquoise inlays representing residual droplets on Brandon's Beaver
from alabaster. A precious face with turquoise inlaid eyes, incised whiskers and little drilled ears is granted to this approximately 3" long, 3/4" wide and 1" tall water loving creature.
