Justin Red Elk is from the greater Leonard Halate (d) family of Zuni Pueblo artists. His mother is carver Pansy Natachu. Justin's uncle and aunts are carvers Herbert Halate, Reva Halate and Marvelita Phillips, among many other wonderful artists from this lineage. Bear carved in a style somewhat reminiscent of his uncle Herbert's. The serpentine is varied and beautiful.
