Animal: Corn Maiden, Material: Malachite
This offering is sold.

Malachite is a mineralogical cousin of turquoise said to open the figurative heart. Healing properties are associated with malachite as some claim it absorbs various pollutants. The A:shiwi (The People) have traditionally carved with malachite. Kateri Quandelacy Sanchez's small Corn-Maiden has been sculpted from malachite to a dimension of approximately 1 3/8" tall, 1 3/4" wide and 3/4" deep. Facial features are from iridescent shell etched and filled with jet paste. Our Keshi gallery will be hosting Kateri and her aunt Sandra Quandelacy on Friday, August 15, 2025 from 3 to 5 pm for a wonderful showing, please join us for this annual tradition during Market season.
